A guide to ongoing appreciation
Monthly creator support without memberships
Yes, you can receive monthly support on Appreciate without running a membership. Someone who values your work can choose to appreciate it financially each month. You do not need to offer reward tiers, bonus posts, or exclusive content in return.

What is monthly creator support?
Monthly creator support is a recurring payment from someone who wants to keep backing your work over time. Instead of making a new decision after every piece, they choose ongoing support.
On Appreciate, that choice is voluntary and does not buy ownership of your work or a share of what you earn. It also does not commit you to a new publishing schedule. Describe the invitation clearly so both sides understand it.
How is monthly support different from a membership?
The difference is the expectation you set, not simply how often someone pays. Memberships often involve an ongoing exchange of benefits, access, content, or community. That can be a good fit when you want to create and maintain those things.
Monthly appreciation on Appreciate centers on work you already make. A supporter can keep backing that work without receiving a separate package of benefits. Neither approach is better for everyone; choose the commitment you actually want to make.
- A membership invitation might describe what members receive and how often you will provide it.
- A monthly appreciation invitation explains whose work the payment supports, without promising an extra deliverable.
- A recurring payment alone does not tell someone which arrangement you mean. Make the expectation explicit beside your link.
Do I need to create rewards or exclusive content?
No. Appreciate does not require bonus posts, early access, a private community, supporter-only videos, extra reviews, exclusive newsletters, or reward tiers.
You can continue sharing the same public work at a pace that suits you. If you want to thank people, you can do that without turning a kind gesture into a promise of individual attention or future content.
Who is monthly appreciation useful for?
It can suit creators whose work people return to regularly: a writer whose essays help them think, an artist whose process they follow, or a reviewer whose reading recommendations they trust.
Photographers, educators, newsletter writers, YouTubers, and podcasters may also have an audience that values the continuing work rather than a particular purchase. You do not need to invent a second version of that work just for supporters.

Why would someone support a creator every month?
Sometimes the work has become part of someone's routine. They look forward to your review, use your explanations, or keep coming back to your photographs. Regular support can be their way of acknowledging that continuing value.
They may want you to have more time for the work, or simply want to express appreciation more than once. The support itself can be the point. Leave room for people to enjoy what you share without contributing, too.
How monthly support works on Appreciate
The supporter chooses monthly support in the same appreciation flow used for a one-time payment. You share your usual public page link, rather than maintaining a separate membership page.
- Create your page, introduce yourself, and complete the supported payment setup if you are eligible.
- Set the price of one appreciation, then share your link with a clear invitation.
- The supporter chooses an amount and selects monthly support. One-time support remains the default.
- They can add a message and choose whether to permit its publication before completing the payment.
What happens after someone starts monthly support?
The first successful payment creates one original appreciation, including any message the supporter chose to send. That appreciation can represent more than one unit, depending on the amount and your appreciation price at the time.
Later monthly payments continue the financial support. Renewals do not create new appreciation messages and do not increase the public appreciation count. They do not turn the original note into a new post each month.
The original message and its publication permission stay with that appreciation. Monthly support does not make a private message public or publish a message on your behalf.
Can supporters leave a message?
Yes. A supporter can include a thoughtful note with the original appreciation, but the message is optional and can be left blank. Sending support does not require finding the perfect words.
A message can appear on your public Wall only when the supporter permits publication and you choose to publish it. There is no new message on each renewal. Public appreciation does not reveal the amount paid.
What should I say when I share my monthly support link?
Name the work people know, explain that monthly support is optional, and avoid promising a benefit you do not intend to provide. Here are five invitations you can adapt to your own voice.
- If these essays are part of your reading routine, my Appreciate page lets you support the writing once or each month.
- I will keep sharing my work here. If you would like to back it regularly, you can choose monthly appreciation through this link.
- Thank you for spending time with what I make. There is an optional monthly support choice on my Appreciate page, with no extra content to sign up for.
- For readers who have asked about ongoing support: this is my Appreciate page. You can send once or choose a monthly amount.
- These reviews remain open to everyone. If you want to support the time behind them regularly, monthly appreciation is available here.
Where should I put my Appreciate link?
Place the link near work your audience already recognizes, with a brief explanation that support can be one-time or monthly. You do not need a different link for each choice.
- Your website or author bio, where visitors can learn who you are before deciding.
- A social profile or link-in-bio destination, using fields that permit external links.
- YouTube channel links or video descriptions where your account and the platform allow them.
- Podcast show notes after the episode information, or a newsletter footer after the piece.
- An article or review footer, close to the work someone has just finished.
How much should I set each appreciation to?
Choose an amount that feels meaningful and is easy for your audience to understand. There is no single right monthly amount for every creator, and a higher price is not a promise of more support.
On Appreciate, one appreciation can be set from $5 to $500 USD. Supporters can choose a quantity or enter a custom total, so the original payment can cover several appreciation units.
The minimum total is one configured appreciation and the maximum is $10,000 per payment. A custom total buys the number of whole units it covers at the price when paid; any remainder is still part of the exact payment, without rounding the count up.
Fees and creator eligibility
Your page is free to create. Appreciate keeps 5% of each successful paid appreciation, including monthly payments, calculated on the exact amount paid. Stripe processing fees can also apply.
Receiving paid appreciation requires a supported Stripe connection and an eligible, payment-ready account. Availability is not worldwide. Read the current eligibility requirements before inviting paid support.
