How can readers support a book reviewer?
Readers can visit your Appreciate page, choose an amount, and send financial support with a message if they want. It can be a thank-you for one review or for the care you bring to everything you read.
A useful review does more than recommend a purchase. You might help someone decide a book is not for them, notice an unreliable narrator, or return to a novel they had put aside. Those are reasons to value your work too.
Can I use Appreciate as a book reviewer tip jar?
Yes, if you meet the current paid-support eligibility requirements. A reader can send one-time appreciation without joining a membership. The optional message gives them room to explain what your review helped them notice.
You keep reviewing on your own blog, video channel, newsletter, or social account. Appreciate is the support page you link to, not another place where you have to publish reviews.
Do I need to create bonus content?
No. You do not need bonus reviews, early access, reading guides, rewards, or a supporter-only book club. Readers are appreciating reviews you already create, not buying a separate publishing schedule.
Keep sharing at a pace that works for your reading life. Monthly support does not turn that invitation into a promise of extra material.
Where should I put my support link?
Put it where someone has just spent time with a review, with a short sentence explaining what the link is for. One considerate invitation is usually clearer than repeating it throughout the piece.
Use the places your account or website allows, and check the link as a reader would. These are placement suggestions, not promises that every platform or account supports the same links.
For book blogs and independent websites
Try the review footer, a short author bio, or your About page. A sidebar or profile area can work if it is easy to find without interrupting the review. Keep the invitation separate from the review's verdict.
If you also review on Goodreads or another reading community, share a support link only where its rules and your profile's link options permit it. Your own website can remain the place readers find the full invitation.
For BookTube
Consider your channel profile links and the description of a longer review video. Put the support invitation after the book details and useful references. A pinned comment can be appropriate when the platform permits the link and it adds context rather than interrupting discussion.
Check whether the link is clickable in that location. Do not assume a link pasted into a short-form video's description will work like one in a long-form review.
For BookTok and Instagram
Use an available bio link or add your Appreciate page to the link-in-bio destination you already share. Label it plainly, such as Support my book reviews, so readers know where it goes.
A caption can point interested readers to that destination without making the whole review an appeal for support. Link options vary by account and platform; use what is available to you.
For newsletters
Add a short invitation in your footer, beneath your author signature, or after a substantial review or essay. Let the reader finish the piece before asking them to respond.
A support link can sit alongside an ordinary reply invitation. Keep those choices clear: Appreciate accepts financial appreciation with an optional message, rather than offering a separate free message-only form.
What can I say when I share my Appreciate link?
Use a sentence that sounds like you, then attach your page link. These examples invite support without promising anything in return.
- Found your next read through one of my reviews? You can support my reviewing here, with a note if you like.
- If these reviews bring something to your reading life, my Appreciate page is a place to say thank you with financial support.
- I love hearing when a review changes how someone sees a book. You can add a message when you support my reviews here.
- Want to support the time I spend reading and reviewing? You can appreciate my work once or monthly here.
Can readers support me monthly?
Yes. One-time appreciation is the default, and readers can choose monthly support instead. Neither choice requires a membership or rewards.
The original appreciation and any message are created once. Later monthly renewals do not add new messages or increase that original appreciation's count.
Can readers leave a message?
Yes. A reader can add a thoughtful message or leave it blank. They might tell you which observation stayed with them, why they picked up a book, or how your review helped them read it differently.
A message is public only when the supporter permits publication and you choose to publish it. Otherwise it stays private. Public appreciation does not show the amount paid.
Does financial support affect my reviews?
Financial appreciation does not buy editorial influence or a positive review. It supports the reviewing you already do; it is not payment for a favorable verdict, extra reviews, or access to your decisions.
Keep your opinion your own, including when you dislike a book. If someone asks for a particular verdict in exchange for support, make clear that it is not what your page offers.
How much does Appreciate cost?
Your page is free to create. Appreciate keeps 5% of each successful paid appreciation. Payment processing fees can also apply.
Who can receive paid appreciation?
Paid appreciation currently requires an eligible U.S. Stripe Standard account and is received in USD. The connection must meet verification and payment-readiness requirements. Availability does not extend to every country.
